Apple explains why new European restrictions hurt PWAs

The Network Advocacy Organization earlier expressed concerns about Apple’s new European standards, asserting that they significantly undermined the functionality of PWA network applications and reduced them to mere shortcuts. Apple revised its official support document to explicitly indicate that the action is being taken to adhere to the stipulations of the Digital Markets Act.

Apple stated that following the liberalization of the European market for non-WebKit rendering engines, it will need to develop a new integration framework. Nevertheless, the existing iOS system lacks the necessary features to effectively address the intricate security concerns associated with PWA applications when utilizing third-party browser engines.
