Google has turned to a unique solution to capture a “Street View”
Google has turned to a unique solution to capture a "Street View" of Abu Dhabi’s desert — by hiring a camel.
The animal, named Raffia, became the first to carry Google’s Trekker camera, traditionally used by humans to take 360-degree photos in remote or inaccessible areas. Google spokeswoman Monica Baz explained that the camel was chosen for its ability to navigate the shifting sands of the Liwa Oasis in a natural and environmentally friendly way.

This desert, home to some of the world’s largest sand dunes, was the perfect location for such an innovative approach.
Previous Street View expeditions have covered famous landmarks like Mount Everest and the Grand Canyon, but the camel’s contribution highlights the creative ways Google adapts its technology to unique terrains.
