KP Govt Launches GIS-Based CUIPTMIS For Urban Planning
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has reached a huge achievement by successfully launching the GIS-based Centralized Urban Immovable Property Tax Management and Information System (CUIPTMIS). This effort seeks to transform the property tax system by implementing automation, transparency, and improved efficiency.
The implementation of the GIS-based CUIPTMIS represents a significant progress in tax collection and resource management for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This program improves revenue collection operations and promotes the administration of public resources. Furthermore, its goal is to offer increased convenience and assistance to taxpayers throughout the province.
A ceremony was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar to mark this significant event, with former Justice Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, the caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, serving as the chief guest. Caretaker provincial ministers Ahmed Rasool Bangash and Engr. Ahmed Jan, along with officials including Secretary Excise and Taxation Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah and Secretary Local Government Daud Khan, were present at the occasion.

The newly established Management and Information System (MIS) was created at a total cost of Rs 95.898 million. The scheme, which was first introduced in the Nowshera and Abbottabad districts, would soon be extended to include all the other districts in the province.
Within the project scope, 50,938 new property units have been discovered in Abbottabad and Nowshera districts. The total number of property units in these areas has increased to 90,938 as a result. The rise in the number of property units has increased the demand for tax revenue. The demand in Nowshera has increased from Rs 69 million to Rs 123 million, and in Abbottabad, it has gone up from Rs 83 million to Rs 143 million.

At the occasion, the guest of honor, interim Chief Minister Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, praised the Excise and Taxation Department for their crucial contribution to initiating this important initiative. He stressed that the newly implemented system will improve tax collecting and management processes and offer ease to taxpayers throughout the province. The integrated online system and grievance redress mechanism aim to enhance efficiency by streamlining operations.
